- 01 Sep Professional development course 2 Teaching and Learning in the Human Science Academic Area The course is aimed for teachers within the Human Science Academic Area with previous formal training in teaching and learning. (Professional development course 1 or equivalent.)
- 14 Sep Workshop: Design teaching for active learning in our active learning classrooms (ALC) One of the constant issues in all forms of education is how to plan teaching in such a way as to activate, challenge and motivate students. Research has demonstrated the value of interactive and collaborative forms of teaching where the students get opportunities to grapple with complex tasks in the form of scenarios, case studies or problems where theories and practice meet. In this workshop you will experience activities in an ALC room and we will use this teaching technique to learn about and discuss the thinking and research behind active learning.
- 15 Sep Welcome Day for PhD students The Welcome Day for PhD students on september 15th is organised by the Faculty Offices of the Humanities, Social Sciences, and Law. The day provides incoming PhD students with an overview of the PhD program and the support structure around it.
- 04 Oct Research Supervision — theory and practice This course focuses on providing new or experienced doctoral supervisors with the means and opportunity to critically reflect on their supervision in order to learn new skills and generate inspiration through teamwork and engagement. The course is aimed at you with at least some experience of supervising a doctoral student.
