The proximity to national museums and institutions in the region provides access to empirical data and opportunities for collaboration with the surrounding community. The underlying mechanisms of various development trends and patterns are studied from an economic perspective. Medieval research and studies of the early modern period are particularly strong areas that have received large external grants. Connections in the development of methods and theory – such as visual studies in art history – create opportunities for joint activities and the exchange of ideas between faculties.
