Anezka Kuzmicova, researcher in Literature at the Department of Culture and Aesthetics, will be speaking at "Style and Response: Minds, Media, Methods" in Sheffield next week.
She will report an empirical reader response study that showed an association between empathic, as well as critical, reading strategy on the one hand, and long-term fiction reading habits and personal relevance on the other. Participants in the study were 111 young adults who read and responded to a non-fiction text on the topic of social mobility.
