Kimmo Eriksson, professor of mathematics / applied mathematics will present the first analyses from a study, conducted in 57 countries, in which metanorms are studied, that is, norms about how to react to norm violations. Research questions that are addressed include: Which actions operate as informal sanctions? Are metanorms sanction-specific? What are the cultural and ecological antecedents of between-country variation in metanorms? What are the behavioral consequences of metanorms?
